About

The Department of Education is a very old department of the College. The Honours course started in the year 2003. At present the department has one full time teacher, Three State Aided College Teachers. The student-teacher ratio for the Honours / Major course is satisfactory. Many students from this department are pursuing M.A in Education at different Universities. Some of the ex-students are engaged in teaching and Govt. jobs. The students take interest in studying this subject because the subject is very life-centric.

Future Plan

  • To make an arrangement for a separate room for practical classes. Where a small pedagogical Laboratory can be built with existing materials. (Such as Tests and types of equipment)
  • For the above-mentioned purpose, some new instruments may be included.
  • A Computer Practical Laboratory will be built to facilitate computer practical’s for Major students and in the field of making their presentations. 
  • Many more special lectures and talks can be arranged by erudite speakers for the enhancement of the knowledge of the students.
  • Student seminars can be arranged to enhance their self-confidence and knowledge of the subject.
  • To make the classroom for Education Honours, ICT enabled.

  2. 7th September 2017, A Special Lecture given by Dr. Ranjita Datta at Calcutta Girls College. ‘Academic Stress’.
  3. 22nd November 2017, A Special Lecture was given by Dr. Srabanti Mukhopadhyay of Gokhale Memorial Girls College, On the use of ICT in Education. 
  4. 29th March 2019, A Special Lecture given by Prof. Sunrita Mitra of Shrishikshayatan College. On EQ vs IQ: which works more.
  5. 17th April 2019, Departmental Quiz programme.
  6. 19th to 22nd August 2019, Faculty Exchange Programme with New Alipur College.
