SC/ST/OBC Cell:
The college is committed to provide an environment that promotes diversity and respects everyone regardless of colour, religious belief or cultures. While maintaining diversity of all kinds, it also commits to ensuring protection of everyone including SC/ST and OBCs and acting as per the provisions of constitution of India in such matters
A special cell for the SC, ST and OBC students exists in the College to look into the special needs of these students. The Cell is entrusted with the responsibility to look after the welfare of SC/ST/OBC students and address their problems, academic and otherwise. The Cell undertakes to provide assistance to the students of the SC/ST/OBC category through targeted teaching and counselling and also extends financial support to them through the various government scholarships and financial schemes.
During admissions, the Cell works in close tandem with the Admission Committee to ensure that students belonging to the reserved categories SC/ST/OBC are admitted strictly in accordance with the National and University norms.

Overall Functions

  • Informal Advisory Committee on SCs/STs and OBCs
  • Ensuring Reservation policies in regard to SCs/STs and OBCs
  • Complaint Register for SCs/STs and OBCs
  • Facilitate availability of schemes and benefits admissible to SC/ST and OBCs including scholarship programmes.
  • To ensure provisions of an environment where all such students feel safe and secure.
  • To provide prompt counselling for any emotional emergencies arising on account of any events or discrimination on campus.
  • To communicate with Office of the Commissioner for SC/ST and OBCs in response of representations/ complaints.

  • Special Lecture
    Special Lecture by Dr. Sekhar Bandyopadhyay, Emeritus Professor of History, University of Wellington, New Zealand on “Does Caste Matter In Bengal?” on 12th November 2022, organized by Department of History in collaboration with IQAC and SC/ST/OBC Cell of the College
